  Were YOU Set Up To Fail?

  as a child, i believed jdubs were the only ones who had truths.

  we as children tried to live our lives clean without smoking, drinking, cussing, stealing and etc,.

  as i became an adult and associated with others, i had fallen beneath the jw cracks.

  I guess everyone knows what I am feeling! A lot of times it creeps in. At least I am not alone with the whole ordeal. I spoke with someone about it before. This counselor said that with most religions in the USA you have the freedom to walk out the door and go to another religion then turn around and walk back into the door. But the JW and some others do not allow their members to go to other religions. He said that there are too many people to keep up with so it is better to be able to go and come when you want with out the control problems or feeling judged your baptism is good no matter where you go, and most religions do not care there just happy to see you.

  Then he asked me after he explained this to me, if I understood the difference?

  My answer: no guilt and people happy to see you!

  Aguest, very good post! Did you know that the abstaining from blood in the OT was animal blood. Later in the NT they started mixing animal's blood that was sacrificed to idols with wine and would drink it.

  Also I found a wall sculpture pre dated NT with a man bending down with a tube going into his mouth coming from his kings arm. I guess things became so evil that they thought they could gain eternal life from their earthly kings. Kings thought they were gods.

  Why use the word apostate?

  why should we define ourselves by what the fds defines us?

  our enemies who seek emotional control over us even after we left their destructive cult have invested a lot of effort to demonize us with the word apostate and when we use the term ourselves we do their work for them.

  most so called apostates simply thought about things deeply and came up with many questions that the jws instead of answering in a logical manner labelled these inquiring minds as demon inspired apostates doubting the god appointed fds and expelled them from their org.

  Phil you are so right! A Christian would need to turn away from the teachings of Jesus Christ to be considered an apostate. But the JDub and so does other abuse the bibical term.

  I guess if one thinks that apostate is someone who rejects their religion then the following term applies to everyone but the original Christian churches in the N.T., and the hurches had problems trying get away from pagans who worship everything.

  The name Protestant, common to all these sects, is really a negative term, denoting their refusal to admit the teaching authority of the ancient Church.

  I guess that is the warning that Paul was trying to point out which sect do you belong? NONE, we belong to Christ. and the KM missed the point.

  there is clearly a caste system in the organization.

  there is a pecking order.

  certain classes of people did not associate with those not of the same ilk.

  Could you apply what you wrote to any religion, work, or volunteer group?

  I know that the few elders up at the top controls the minds set of the other elders so everyone falls below the list of the shinning stars!

  Well I just had to re-read what others wrote and sadly to say it is all so true. But they would just blame the whole thing on how imperfect men are.

  I have black friends and they have expressed their concernes about an individual elder's prejudice during weekly WT. Last week, the overseer conductor has made jokes that are racial slurrs so that others would not notice and the conductor would look at black individuals so would the congregation as they foolishly laughed. I always think that people are parnoid and it did not happen, but I guess this could be true! I do not attend so I can not say.

  As far as my life, I know big families were looked down on by elders at the Kingdom Hall. I know that my friend, divorced woman, raised her family on welfare and she was looked down on for seeking long term assistance. Now welfare seems to be the norm but I think the working class still shuns the poor.

  As a child, I believed JDUBS were the only ones who had truths. We as children tried to live our lives clean without smoking, drinking, cussing, stealing and etc,. As I became an adult and associated with others, I had fallen beneath the JW cracks. Also, a mother who so stricted that she would not allow association with even some of the JDUB children.

  Now, I feel stressed out and depressed about the whole ordeal that I have sinned and failed to be a good JDUB. Something in my brain does not let it go, I still want to please God. I seemed to not be able to let go of JDUBS teachings, out of my mind. Since I have fallen short and straighten up my life style through prayer and with age, I live life like a nun still trying to please God. I know Jesus died for sinners, so why should I feel like I failed.

  Am I the only one who feels this way sorta of empty inside like there is something missing? Such as an organization that I grew up in and friends that I never had, yet wanted.

  Were we set up to fail?

  WHA WAS THE TURNING POINT FOR YOU IN JWS

  hi.. just wondering what it was that first made you realise that jws didnt have the absolute "truth"?

  was there a specific event/turning point for you or was it a moment of enlightenment?.

  My turning point was the old Jehovah Witness books, Catholic books, Jewish books, as well as historical, and other resources such as the book of Enoch.

  I started with a doctrine and researched the beginning of the doctrine. I realized most of the WTBTS borrowed from the Catholic who borrowed from the Jewish writings who borrowed from Cabala and other sources, book of Enoch.

  I had a friend who helped me research and I helped her with her research. The two or three gathered together in my name.

  Now who is the Faithfull slave who gave them meat at due seasons? Could it be Cabala or the book of Enoch.
